The Crescent Yacht Club presented its annual scholarship award to Gavin Flaherty, a Haverhill High School graduate who is attending the Mass Maritime Academy on Cape Cod, where he is studying marine engineering. The awards ceremony was held Sept. 1 at the yacht club. Flaherty was active on the Haverhill hockey team and worked at Rogers Spring Hill Farm and the Merrohawke Nature School.
