Janice McCarthy holds a photo of her husband while posing in her Andover home. McCarthy lost her husband and father of their three children to suicide in 2006, he was a state police captain and suffered from PTSD. Despite her efforts, his death has not been recognized as an in the line of duty death by the state. Since his death, she has spoken out and trained police officers regarding mental wellness and suicide prevention.
